To Bills Lake residents:
A happy ending. The stolen document box has been found. It was discovered by Sally Mouthaan as she was walking along 92nd St. It was located at the corner of Pear and 92nd streets. Sally said that it looked as if it had been thrown from a car. It was so heavy that she returned home, got her car, and retrieved the box. Indeed, she -- and the Findleys -- "got lucky" (see below).
The box was turned it over to the state police who contacted the Findleys. According to Angie Findley, everything was in it, even the coins. Nothing was missing.
Nevertheless, it behooves residents to keep eyes open and valuables locked up.
If you are confused by all of this, read below. It was posted a week ago.

Angie and Scott Findley, who recently moved into their home on Bills Lake Ct. (Geronimo 1 zone), report that a grey fireproof metal document box was taken from their car. The box contained very little money (a few silver dollars and Mexican pesos) but very important papers: birth certificates, passports, and social security cards.
In the hope that the thief simply took the money but found no use for the documents, it would be helpful if, when you are at the lake (or if you live here full time), you would look around your yard and neighborhood. Maybe the thief discarded the box. It is heavy.
You can imagine the consternation of having to go through the hassle of replacing these documents but additionally, the bad possibilities if the wrong person has access to your social security number. The Findleys have reported the theft to the state police and have taken the appropriate credit bureau steps.
